Functional medicine looks to address underlying causes of health issues through looking at the whole body systems rather than as a set of symptoms. Functional medicine uses a person's story as a key tool for integrating signs and symptoms and evidence of clinical imbalances into a comprehensive approach, exploring interactions of lifestyle, genetics and other environmental inputs that may influence health and physiological function.
The aim is to give you the tools and knowledge to help make positive changes to aspects of your health through diet and lifestyle. The Institute for Functional Medicine teaches health care professional’s how to apply these principles in practice through an intensive 5 day training course called Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice™.
I attended and completed the AFMCP™-UK training in London in 2017 and their Advanced Practice Module in Gastrointestinal health GI:UK in 2019.
